As autumn deepens and the liturgical year draws near its close, today’s readings invite us to reflect on faithfulness, courage, and the sovereignty of God over all earthly powers. The story of Daniel in the lions’ den shows us that true trust in God endures even when laws and threats stand against it
In the Gospel, our Lord reminds us that trials may come, but our hope and redemption belong to Him
Let us then approach the day with humble hearts, ready to stand firm in faith and to live out the Gospel boldly.
Prayer of the Day
Lord God,
You are the rock of our salvation and the defender of those who trust in You.
When fear surrounds and doubts assail us, grant us the courage and faith of Daniel
to turn to You in prayer, even when danger looms.
Help us to lift our eyes beyond earthly trials,
to cling to Your promise of redemption,
and to stand firm in hope no matter the storm.
May Your mercy guide us, Your strength uphold us,
and Your love shine through us in all we do.

Saint of the Day: Saint Virgilius of Salzburg
Saint Virgilius lived in the 8th century. According to tradition, he was born in Ireland and educated at the abbey of Iona.
After a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, he settled in what is now Austria and Bavaria with a mission: to bring the Gospel to people in Alpine regions. In time, he became abbot of Salzburg.
Virgilius stood out for his bold thinking and deep faith. He famously defended the truth that the Earth was round — a view considered controversial at the time. Despite criticism (notably from Saint Boniface), he remained steadfast.
Rather than compromise, he founded churches, preached the Gospel among remote communities, and laid foundations for the Christian faith in the Alpine regions. His work earned him the title of “Apostle of the Alps.”
Today, his feast is commemorated November 27 — a date that honors his missionary zeal, intellectual courage, and devotion to spreading Christ’s light where darkness reigned.
