Catholic Saint of the Day: Saint Bridget of Sweden
Saint Bridget of Sweden (1303–1373) was a mystic, visionary, and mother of eight children. After being widowed, she devoted herself to prayer and religious service, founding the Bridgettine Order of Nuns.
Her mystical visions of Christ’s Passion and messages from Jesus and the Blessed Virgin gained wide respect throughout Europe.
Her writings influenced many in the Church, and she was named one of the Patron Saints of Europe by Pope John Paul II.
