Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of a new day.
Grant me the grace to walk in Your will,
to trust You even when I do not see the way ahead,
and to respond with love and patience
to everyone You place on my path.
Strengthen my faith,
renew my hope,
and fill my heart with Your peace.

Mass Reading of the Day
First Reading — 2 John 4–9
St. John urges the faithful to walk in love, hold firmly to the truth, and beware of anyone who leads others away from Christ’s teachings. Remaining rooted in Christ ensures we remain rooted in the Father.

The psalmist rejoices in God’s law, praying for understanding, strength, and a heart committed to His commandments.
Gospel — Luke 17:26–37
Jesus warns His disciples to stay watchful and spiritually prepared. Just as in the days of Noah and Lot, daily life may distract us — but the Son of Man will come suddenly. The message is clear: remain faithful, remain ready.
Saint of the Day: St. Joseph Pignatelli
Priest, Peacemaker, Protector of the Jesuits (1737–1811)
St. Joseph Pignatelli lived in a time of tremendous chaos for the Church. Born into Spanish-Italian nobility, he chose a life of humility, becoming a Jesuit priest known for his compassion, wisdom, and unshakable integrity. When governments across Europe expelled the Jesuits, Fr. Pignatelli found himself responsible for hundreds of displaced priests.
Instead of despairing, he became their anchor.
He organized homes, provided food, encouraged their prayer life, and kept them united as a spiritual family. After the Jesuit suppression, he worked tirelessly — quietly, bravely, persistently — to preserve their community, records, and legacy.
Thanks largely to his perseverance, the Society of Jesus was eventually restored. He is considered by many the “second founder” of the Jesuits.
St. Joseph Pignatelli shows us the beauty of fidelity — especially when the future seems uncertain. His life reminds us that God uses gentle souls to accomplish mighty works.
