Daily Mass Reading for Friday, March 7th 2025

Today, Friday, March 7, 2025, is Friday after Ash Wednesday. The Mass readings for today are as follows:

First Reading: Isaiah 58:1-9a

In this passage, the Lord calls out the people’s transgressions and emphasizes the kind of fasting He desires—acts of justice, freeing the oppressed, sharing bread with the hungry, and sheltering the homeless. He promises that such genuine acts will lead to healing and His presence among them.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 51:3-4, 5-6ab, 18-19

Response: A heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.

This psalm is a plea for mercy, acknowledging one’s sins, and expressing a desire for a pure heart and renewed spirit.

Gospel: Matthew 9:14-15

In this passage, the disciples of John the Baptist question Jesus about fasting. Jesus responds by comparing His presence to that of a bridegroom with his guests, indicating that fasting will be appropriate when He is no longer with them
