One name for God is healer. Luke 6:19 reads, “And the people all tried to touch him because power was coming from him and healing them all.” Beloved, today if you are sick in any part of your body, know that Jehovah Rapha, which means, “The Lord who heals physical and emotional needs” is here to make you strong and whole again.
“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.” -3 John 1:2
Lord, the scripture says to pray for healing and you will bless me with perfect health and strength to do all things. Today, I seek comfort in your healing arms for I am weary. Heal me from the pain that engulfs me. Send forth your healing power to console my mind, body, and spirit for your declaration in Jeremiah 30:17, makes me understand that you will restore me to health and heal my wounds. Therefore, look upon me with your merciful eyes and take over my sore body.
Father Lord, let strength from above course through my entire body, from the tip of my head to the soles of my feet. Every part or organ within me, I declare healing. I plead the blood of Jesus that fell on Calvary over my aching body and over every dysfunctional organ. I decree that every part and organ be revived and restored to its original state. I plead for the blood to reach every gateway of my body and pronounce restoration in Jesus’ name. Your word says, by his stripes, we are healed. And so, I am healed, I am energized and recharged to go about my duties. The blood is no ordinary blood because it never loses its power. I believe it gives me strength from day to day.
Send forth your healing hand upon me. I decree that every cell of my body will receive your life-giving powers and it will flow deep into my soul. I decree life into any unproductive cells, blocked arteries, or veins. May any damaged area in the body be fully restored so your name is glorified. I pray for a mighty sweep of cleansing and purification of my body into wholesomeness. I trust that your love and power which surrounds me will nurse me back to perfect health. I am confident in 2 Kings 20:5, which reads, ‘I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you.” Thank you, Lord, for restoring me to full health in Jesus’ name.
Why Praying for the Sick is a Work of Mercy
In the Catholic tradition, praying for the sick is listed among the Spiritual Works of Mercy — acts of charity that care for the spiritual needs of our neighbour. How to Maximise Your Healing Prayer
Pray with faith: Jesus repeatedly linked healing to faith — not a perfect, doubt-free faith, but the courageous decision to trust God despite uncertainty. Even “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief” (Mark 9:24) was sufficient for a miracle.
Use the sacraments: For serious illness, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick confers specific grace for healing and comfort. The Eucharist — “the medicine of immortality” as Saint Ignatius of Antioch called it — nourishes the soul and can bring physical healing.
Ask others to pray with you: James 5:14-15 specifically instructs the sick to call the elders of the Church to pray over them. There is particular power in communal intercessory prayer. Consider asking your parish priest, a prayer group, or family members to join their prayers with yours.
