On this Monday of the Seventh Week of Easter, the Church encourages us to deepen our commitment to God’s call, especially in times of waiting, trial, and preparation. As we near the great feast of Pentecost, today’s readings urge us to open our hearts to the workings of the Holy Spirit and to remain united in prayer as the Apostles did
Prayer of the Day
Heavenly Father,
Today I thank You for the gift of peace that Your Son, Jesus Christ, offers even in the midst of chaos.
Just as Saint Celestine V surrendered worldly honor for the sake of Your will,
Help me to remain humble in heart and clear in purpose.
Fill me with the courage to stand firm in trials and the grace to seek Your Holy Spirit daily.
As I journey toward Pentecost, keep me faithful, hopeful, and united in prayer with the Church.

Mass Readings for Today – May 19th
First Reading: Acts 19:1–8
Paul arrives in Ephesus and finds some disciples who had only received John’s baptism. He teaches them about the Holy Spirit, baptizes them in the name of the Lord Jesus, and they receive the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues and prophesying.
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 68:2-3ab, 4-5acd, 6-7ab
Response: Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth.
Gospel: John 16:29–33
Jesus tells His disciples that though they believe now, they will soon scatter and leave Him alone. But He assures them: “Take courage; I have conquered the world.”
Saint of the Day: Saint Celestine V
Saint Celestine V (1215–1296), born Pietro del Morrone, was a humble hermit who was unexpectedly elected Pope in 1294 at the age of 79. Though known for his holiness and simplicity, he soon realized he was not equipped to manage the complex affairs of the Church and resigned after only five months—a rare and brave decision. He returned to monastic life and remained faithful in prayer and humility.
Interesting Facts about Saint Celestine V:
- He founded the Celestine Order, a branch of the Benedictines.
- He is one of the few Popes who resigned willingly, setting a precedent for future papal resignations.
- Despite being Pope for a short time, he was canonized in 1313.
- He was imprisoned after his resignation by Pope Boniface VIII out of fear that his presence might cause division.
- He is known as a symbol of humility and obedience to God’s will over personal ambition.
