Catholic Prayer of the Day – April 3rd

As we continue our Lenten journey, today calls us to deeper trust in God’s mercy and a sincere desire for conversion. Even in our struggles, God remains faithful, inviting us to return to Him with humble and repentant hearts.

Prayer of the Day

Heavenly Father,
You are full of mercy and compassion,
slow to anger and rich in love.

In this season of grace,
draw us closer to You
and cleanse our hearts from all that separates us from Your will.

Help us to trust in Your mercy,
to seek You in prayer,
and to follow Your commandments with sincerity.

Renew our spirits, O Lord,
and guide us on the path of righteousness.
May our lives bear fruit in love, humility, and faith.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Saint of the Day: Saint Richard of Chichester

Saint Richard of Chichester (1197–1253) was a humble and devoted bishop in England, known for his deep spirituality, integrity, and dedication to justice.

Born into a once-wealthy family that had fallen into hardship, Richard experienced struggle early in life. Despite this, he pursued education with determination, studying at Oxford, Paris, and Bologna—eventually becoming a respected scholar and priest.

He was appointed Bishop of Chichester during a time of political tension between the Church and the crown. His appointment was opposed by the king, and he was even denied access to his own diocese for a time. Yet, Richard remained patient and faithful, living simply and serving people wherever he could.

When he finally took possession of his diocese, he worked tirelessly to reform the clergy, promote discipline, and care for the poor. He was known for his personal holiness, often living modestly and giving generously to those in need.

Saint Richard’s life is a powerful example of perseverance, humility, and unwavering commitment to God’s truth, even in the face of injustice.
